Meet Barry

Barry Sanders is a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group and a member of the Board of Directors, where he provides oversight for all client engagements to maintain consistent high quality in service delivery. Barry joined the firm in 2015 after nearly three decades of successful executive and general management experience in market-leading multinational corporations and served as McChrystal Group's Chief Operating Officer from 2015 to 2024.

Prior to joining McChrystal Group, Barry was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, where he was responsible for the company’s worldwide portfolio of consumer brands, products, and services. There, he was accountable for profit and loss and all operating metrics of the company as well as leadership of all aspects of the global consumer business including marketing, sales, supply chain, and research & development.

Prior to joining the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, Barry held senior roles at Cap Gemini (Ernst & Young), Electrolux (The Frigidaire Company), and The Excello Specialty Company. Barry’s areas of expertise include company strategy development and organizational alignment to achieve objectives, increasing shareholder value through strategic planning and implementation, and building and leading high-performance global organizations. He is adept at solving complex business problems and developing business models to improve growth rates and reduce cost structures at companies.

Barry received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
