Meet David
David Doyle is a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group and an executive leader who helps organizations become more effective by developing leaders, strengthening executive teams, and translating strategy into execution. He advises organizations navigating transformation, organizational redesign, technology adoption, and complex operating environments where success depends on leadership, adaptability, and organizational alignment.
Over more than 32 years of leadership, including more than a decade leading large enterprises and executive staffs, David has guided organizations through strategic transformation, crisis response, executive decision-making, and organizational change. His experience includes leading organizations of up to 18,000 personnel, directing executive staffs of 4,500 professionals, overseeing multi-billion-dollar operational portfolios, and advising senior leaders responsible for some of the nation's largest and most complex organizations.
Most recently, David served as Special Assistant and Strategic Advisor to successive Commanding Generals of U.S. Army Forces Command, helping lead the transformation of one of the Army's largest headquarters into a Theater Army and Army Service Component Command. Previously, as Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson, he led an 18,000-person organization and championed the integration of AI-enabled analytics and data-informed decision-making to improve operational readiness and organizational performance. As Chief of Staff for U.S. Central Command, he synchronized a 4,500-person headquarters, guided enterprise modernization initiatives valued at $1.2 billion, established the headquarters's first Chief Technology Officer and Chief Data Officer, and prepared strategic decision briefings for the President of the United States, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
David has extensive experience helping leaders improve organizational effectiveness through executive communication, governance, leadership development, systems thinking, and cross-functional collaboration. He has worked extensively with government agencies, multinational partners, nonprofit organizations, emergency management leaders, and community stakeholders while leading humanitarian assistance, disaster response, multinational operations, and enterprise transformation initiatives throughout the United States and abroad.
David believes leadership is ultimately an act of stewardship—strengthening people, developing teams, and preparing institutions for those who will inherit them. Throughout his career, he has devoted himself to identifying, developing, and propelling talented leaders into positions of increasing responsibility while helping organizations become more adaptable, more resilient, and better prepared to thrive through complexity, uncertainty, and change. He is recognized for combining practical leadership experience, organizational design, executive communication, and data-informed decision-making to accelerate execution, strengthen cultures of trust and accountability, and foster continuous learning.
David earned a Master of National Security Studies as a Distinguished Graduate of the National War College, a Master of Military Operational Art from the School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Military History from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
