Dwight Alworth
Meet Dwight
Dwight Alworth is an accomplished oil and gas operations leader with over 30 years of experience driving upstream operational excellence, drilling and completions performance, enhanced oil recovery operations, and organizational transformation. He is an International Coaching Federation (ICF)-accredited executive coach who combines deep technical operations experience with behavioral science-based leadership development skills to improve business performance.
Dwight worked for Chevron for over 25 years in Drilling and Production Operations engineering, and leadership roles. He worked domestically and internationally, and in multiple basins and operating environments, including the Gulf of America Deepwater and Shelf, East Coast Canada Deepwater, Kazakhstan’s Tengiz Field, Kuwait’s Partitioned Neutral Zone, Colorado’s Rangely Field, various conventional production assets across the Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico Midcontinent, and most recently, unconventional production in the Permian Basin.
Dwight is a proven organizational design and change implementation practitioner from the field operations level to the enterprise level. He led efforts to integrate Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles into workover rig operations, transforming organizational safety culture and reducing per annum safety event totals 80% over a four-year period. Dwight directed a program requiring the alignment of multiple business units and technical functions to commercialize novel unconventional EOR technologies, achieving the highest level of execution activity in eight years, reducing per-job costs by 30%, and exceeding production and reserves targets. He led a large-scale business transformation implementation effort across Chevron’s North America Region and has PMO leadership experience executing enterprise-level operating model enablement. Finally, he is a former McChrystal Group client with experience successfully integrating Team of Teams into a business unit operations governance structure.
Prior to Chevron, Dwight worked for a technical consulting firm supporting early efforts in the O&G industry to understand the practical application of Drilling Learning Curve theory. In this role, he advised several fully integrated, multinational O&G corporations on Organizational Learning, Knowledge Management, and Project Management to improve Subsurface Team planning effectiveness and execution performance.
Dwight is also a BoardSource-certified nonprofit management consultant and active nonprofit leader. He devotes a significant amount of his time to supporting nonprofit clients in strategic planning, governance, and board development.
Dwight attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets and received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He also received a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Tulsa.
He lives in Midland, TX, where he and his wife are members of First Presbyterian Church and active participants in the Global Missions team.
