What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
Before joining McChrystal Group, I played eight years in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams, and Miami Dolphins. After retiring, I founded Skura Sports Consulting, partnering with executives, corporations, and athletic programs on leadership development, communication, and team culture. In addition, I provided athletes the tools need to successfully navigate their athletic careers both on and off the field. I also served as a Player Personnel & Scouting Assistant with the Baltimore Ravens, contributing to pre-draft evaluation and post-draft roster construction through player assessments that integrated film study, analytics, and contract analysis.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
I was fortunate to compete on exceptional collegiate and professional teams that demonstrated strong leadership in success and adversity. The Team of Teams philosophy deeply resonates with me and fuels my excitement to build on those experiences to serve our clients and drive results that empower the team and individual.
Why are you passionate about leaders & teams?
During my athletic career, I learned that the difference between winning and losing rarely comes down to talent. It comes down to whether a team trusts each other, communicates under pressure, and believes in something bigger than individual performance. You feel the direct impact that strong leadership has on a team. Great leaders empower the individual to become the best version of themselves, while strengthening the bonds within a team. Talent alone didn't drive success. It was the leadership at the top and the relationships in the locker room that created a sense of belief, purpose, and pride to get everyone pulling in the same direction.
That experience is what draws me to the work at McChrystal Group. The principles that separate elite military units and championship teams are the same ones that drive organizational excellence in business. Having a shared purpose, clear communication, and leaders who build trust are the structural foundations of any high-performing organization.
I believe strong leadership is the highest-leverage investment any organization can make. When leaders get it right, teams not only perform, but they also adapt, innovate, and find solutions that no individual could reach alone. Helping organizations build and achieve this is why I'm passionate about this work.
