Meet Maureen

Maureen McCausland, DNSc, RN, FAAN is a Senior Advisor where she has the opportunity to work with and advise executives and leaders on leadership and building effective teams.

What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?

I am an experienced Healthcare and Nursing Executive. Prior to joining McChrystal Group, I served in executive leadership positions in complex academic medical centers and health systems including the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, and MedStar Health where I led the system’s 8,500 professional nurses and 2,500 support personnel. In roles such as Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, I combined extensive strategic and operational responsibility with my interest in improving organizational outcomes and developing the next generation of leaders. My national leadership included serving on The Joint Commission Nursing Advisory Council, Hospital Advisory Committee and Chief Nurse Executive Council, as well as a Director and Officer of The Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research. A nationally recognized leader, I am currently the Vice-Chair of the Building Health Care System Excellence Expert Panel of the American Academy of Nursing and a Visiting Scholar at the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College.

Why did you join McChrystal Group?

I joined McChrystal Group for several reasons: the singular focus on improving the performance of organizations and helping our partners with fundamental changes which I believe are necessary to successfully compete in the 21st-century environment; the outstanding group of professionals who comprise McChrystal Group who paradoxically are diverse but at the same time are aligned and committed to serving our clients and finally and very importantly to me, being a member of a team that accepts nothing less than excellence in all we do individually and collectively.

What has been your proudest moment at McChrystal Group?

Listening to a group of leaders from a financial services firm discuss real, measurable outcomes from their work becoming a Team of Teams.

Why are you passionate about leaders & teams?

I am passionate about leaders and teams because leaders create the soul of an organization with their teams and those teams create something more powerful than any individual could alone.
