With teams now spending substantial time working apart, even the best teams must be brought together for some aspects of in-person team building that virtual can't quite recreate. Great teams navigate hard times together, solve complex problems, and, most importantly, give us the sense of connectedness that is so important in today’s uncertain world. Every year, McChrystal Group staff participates in leadership ventures and multi-day team excursions focused on individual growth and bringing the team closer together.

McChrystal Group Leadership Ventures are one part of how we view our annual operating rhythm, from daily stand-ups to quarterly All Hands strategy sessions and many things in between; we’re huge believers in deliberately bringing voices and view together. Every year, our President, Chris Fussell, and his family host a small group of team members in West Virginia for rock climbing, white water rafting, and campfire conversations. Read about this experience here.

Set in a North Carolina timber farm and hunting camp, the MGLV NC was an opportunity to look at our work through sustainability and conservation. Throughout the venture, participants were asked to think and talk about what sustainability within the organization looks like, how we create sustainable teams, and what personal sustainability means to them.

Over twenty teammates traveled to the Whitewater Center in Charlotte North Carolina for an unforgettable experience rafting, rock-climbing, rope course team building, mountain biking, and stand-up paddle boarding. Spending three nights together in one home, cooking together, and taking time to create the famous "McChrystal Group commercials", led to many honest conversations and deepened connections.
