Meet Avery

Avery Baldwin is an Associate on McChrystal Group’s Implementation team, where he supports client engagements by strengthening strategic alignment, execution, and decision‑making. He works with leaders and teammates to deliver Team of Teams solutions that help organizations operate more effectively in complex environments.

What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?

Prior to joining McChrystal Group, I worked in corporate strategy at Seacoast Bank, where I supported senior leadership in the development, execution, and communication of the bank’s long‑term strategic plan. My work focused on translating complex, cross‑functional inputs into clear narratives and materials for executive leadership and the board. I also supported strategic initiatives including new product development, M&A integration efforts, and enterprise KPI tracking and reporting.

Before Seacoast, I spent three years at Wells Fargo, where I completed the Finance Early Talent Program and later worked in Finance Strategy & Business Management. My work focused primarily on early talent operations within the finance organization, supporting strategic objectives related to talent development. This included tool development, progress tracking, communications, and close partnership with finance leaders, HR, and recruiting teams to align talent.

Why did you join McChrystal Group?

I joined McChrystal Group for the people and the Team of Teams methodology. I was drawn to the opportunity to learn alongside highly capable colleagues, and to a culture that treats diverse backgrounds as a source of strength. Having spent several years working in and around strategic planning, Team of Teams resonated with me as a practical way to help organizations adapt to a complex world.

What are your favorite books (besides Team of Teams!)?

A few of my favorite books include Destiny of the Republic by Candice Millard, Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe, and Nuclear War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobsen. More recently, I enjoyed reading 1929 by Andrew Ross Sorkin about the stock market crash that would eventually lead to the Great Depression.
