Meet Julia

Julia Friend is an Senior Associate passionate about helping organizations reach their full potential by tapping into the people and systems that are behind them. She is currently supporting a biopharmaceutical company with the transformation of their organizational design team through establishing clear visions and ways of working.

What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?

Before McChrystal Group, I worked as a market-research consultant conducting qualitative and quantitative research for Fortune 500 companies in the technology, consumer, and healthcare industries. Throughout my undergraduate career, I held various research assistant positions in the psychology and neuroscience fields studying topics including the malleability of identity and emotion, the role of empathy in small group settings, and human perceptions of first impressions and conversations.

Why did you join McChrystal Group?

I joined McChrystal Group because I was immediately drawn to the diversity in backgrounds of the people who work here. Everyone brings such unique perspectives and expertise, and the opportunities to learn are endless. The culture and camaraderie of the people here motivate me to want to continue to grow as both a professional and an individual.

What sport or hobby do you have outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy improv comedy, walking dogs, or singing at a coffee house! I definitely have the travel bug and one of my favorite experiences was interning at a psychotherapy center in Barcelona. Otherwise, you can find me outside, hiking, or in search of my new favorite coffee shop or restaurant!
