Clayton Hutmacher

Meet Clayton

Major General Clayton Hutmacher is a recognized leader in Special Operations; Aviation, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), and military strategy. He completed his military service as the Director of Operations for United States Special Operations Command. He assumed the position of President/CEO of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in September of 2018, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Special Operators and their families.

Major General Hutmacher served over 40 years in both the Marine Corps and Army leading both conventional and special operations forces during peacetime and combat. As a General Officer, he served as the assistant commanding general for special operations mobility in NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan, commanding general of US Army Special Operations Aviation Command, deputy commanding general of the 2nd Infantry Division, deputy commanding general of US Army Special Operations Command and Director of Operations, United States Special Operations Command. In these roles he directed complex organizations ranging in size from small tactical special operations teams to directing global special operations for a joint force of over 70,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airman, Marines as well as inter-agency partners and allies.

Major General Hutmacher has a BS in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and two MS degrees in Strategic Studies and National Security from the Navy Command and Staff College and the Army War College. Major General Hutmacher is a Master Army Aviator and military parachutist, he has extensive combat experience in multiple theaters and has been decorated for valor on two occasions.

Major General Hutmacher's philanthropic endeavors include serving as an advisor for the Gary Sinise Foundation, providing support to active duty military, first responders, their families, and our nation’s veterans.
