Meet Owen
Owen Daugherty is the Senior Communications Manager at McChrystal Group, where he is responsible for crafting and promoting content across various platforms, including web, audio, and video. He also leads McChrystal Group's external media relations initiatives, working with senior leaders to elevate the group's position in the market.
What did you do before joining McChrystal Group?
I was a journalist in Washington, D.C. covering politics and legislation related to higher education and student loan debt, where I also produced a weekly podcast on higher education policy. Previously, I covered national politics and campaigns for The Hill as a digital journalist leveraging social media and emerging digital platforms to tell stories from Capitol Hill to the rest of the country.
Why did you join McChrystal Group?
I was excited by the opportunity to work with a group of talented and driven individuals during a time of growth for McChrystal Group. I wanted the opportunity to contribute to a variety of different projects and initiatives that have a direct impact on the group's future.
What sport or hobby do you have outside of work?
I love to be outside and active in any way possible, from running and hiking to biking and swimming. I also enjoy exploring D.C. and going to live shows.
What are your favorite books (besides Team of Teams!)?
Anything by Jon Krakauer is at the top of my list. My favorites include Eiger Dreams and Into Thin Air. In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is another favorite of mine.
